In The Scarlet Letter, Roger Chillingworth is definitely Hester Prynne’s husband, but he presents himself to the Puritan culture as doctor to consider revenge after Hester’s paramour, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale.Chillingworth is well respected by the persons when he first arrived but as he interacts extra with Dimmesdale he starts off to age considerably more.
